RiverBluff Cannabis
Exploring the Therapeutic Frontiers of Cannabis

With a long history as both a medicinal herb and a subject of taboo, cannabis is now being reexamined for its potential health benefits.

This shifting perspective on cannabis is reflected in the story of RiverBluff Cannabis, a company born from firsthand experiences with its transformative effects on health.

The company, founded in 2019 by siblings Joe Loeffelholz and Ali Gansemer, was inspired during a pivotal visit from their brother, DJ Loeffelholz, a veteran who served in Iraq and Korea. DJ shared his ongoing struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a condition for which traditional therapies and medications had been ineffective. Seeking alternative treatments, he turned to cannabis on the advice of a licensed therapist, choosing it over the usual narcoleptic drugs often fraught with dangerous side effects.

The effect on DJ was nothing short of transformative.

He witnessed first-hand the profound improvement in his mental health. Moved by their brother’s experience, Loeffelholz and Gansemer reevaluated their own perceptions of cannabis beyond a means of recreation—as a vital tool for significantly enhancing mental well-being.

Luckily, this realization coincided with Illinois’ legislative shift toward legalizing recreational cannabis during the pandemic when many faced heightened isolation, stress and uncertainty. Seizing the opportunity, the siblings—co-owners of the company—established RiverBluff in their home state with a commitment to educate and aid individuals in reclaiming their well-being.

Through education, RiverBluff aims to dispel the misinformation around cannabis in the tri-state area of Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois that has been looming since the 1960s. It achieves this by spreading awareness about the numerous benefits of cannabis proven by science. By regularly producing content that explains current research around cannabis and participating in podcasts, Riverbluff propagates its message about the goodness of cannabis. This drive is not just about promoting products but fostering a well-informed community that can make decisions rooted in understanding rather than stigma.

Joe, emphasizes, “Our commitment runs deep—we’re not just in this industry; we are consumers and advocates of our products. We ensure that everything we offer to the market is something we proudly use ourselves.”

Leading the way in cannabis innovation, RiverBluff is set to become the first small business in Illinois to be vertically integrated setting new standards in quality and customization. This strategy allows it to oversee the entire process from seed to sale, ensuring unmatched quality and the ability to finely tune product offerings according to precise consumer needs.

The construction of a new craft grow facility in Rockford, Illinois, marks a significant step forward. Here, RiverBluff is set to specialize in the creation of sophisticated ‘blend’ products. These blends leverage the synergistic potential of various cannabinoids such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD), cannabigerol (CBG) and cannabinol (CBN)—to optimize the therapeutic effects of cannabis. This nuanced use of the entourage effect enhances the efficacy of its formulations, providing targeted relief and wellness benefits.

Crafting these cannabinoid combinations carefully, RiverBluff addresses a range of consumer needs, from anxiety reduction and sleep improvement to pain management. Each blend is designed to offer a specific therapeutic profile, providing consumers with tailored options to meet their health and lifestyle goals.

As RiverBluff continues to expand its operations and delve deeper into cannabinoid research, its Rockford facility is not just a site of cultivation but a hub of innovation. It reflects RiverBluff’s commitment to advancing cannabis science and delivering products that offer more than just relief—they enhance the quality of life for its community.

Not just that, Riverbluff understands that high-quality products can only be grown by a trained and expert staff. For that, it uses platforms like Seed Talent to ensure the staff is knowledgeable and up-to-date on the latest industry developments, providing an unmatched level of customer service and education. As the company grows and evolves, it harnesses the power of cannabis to improve people's lives, one plant at a time.
