Before joining Kind Oasis, I spent 30 years practicing law and working for a Fortune 100 financial services company. What drew me to this industry beyond the chance to work with my family was the chance to build on our founders’ belief that high-quality wellness products, done right, improve lives. The “done right” part was key for me. This is a young industry where the gap between companies that cut corners and companies that hold themselves to high standards is huge. Consumers know the difference.
Kind Oasis’s founders bring a food industry mindset to our work, which means discipline around ingredients, process control and consistency. It also means a deep understanding that this is a trust business. Our customers trust us about what’s in each product and how it will make them feel.
Addressing Product Inconsistency and Responsible Consumption
The biggest challenge is inconsistency, both in products and in rules.
There is a wide range in product quality, labeling accuracy and potency. When someone has a bad experience with a poorly made product, it hurts that brand, of course, but it also erodes trust in the industry as a whole.
Edible products also carry a specific responsible use challenge. Effects take longer to set in than many people expect and newer consumers sometimes take too much too soon. Our customers rely on us to provide precise dosing, honest labeling and staff who educate rather than just sell.
Of course, there’s also the regulatory landscape, which has been incredibly challenging for our industry over the last year. The uncertainty makes investing in the business harder and rewards operators willing to behave badly in the gaps. Responsible companies must keep raising the bar, even - and especially - when nothing requires them to.
Putting Product Quality and Consumer Safety First
Three principles guide us.
First, ingredients and process trump marketing. Kind Oasis formulations are simple and natural. Every batch is third-party tested and a certificate of analysis is available through a QR code on every package.
Second, act like the regulations we’re asking for already exist. That means clear dosing and labeling, child-resistant packaging, 21+ sales and never designing products or marketing that appeal to kids. We lead on high standards rather than waiting to be told.
Third, trust is difficult to earn and easy to lose. Kind Oasis and its team behave consistently with our commitments.

Long-term, the brands that win will be the ones consumers trust for consistency, not novelty.
Expanding Product Formats and Shaping Cannabis Policy
Consumers are increasingly sophisticated. They want precise doses, predictable experiences and products tailored to specific occasions like sleep, relaxation or socializing. They’re also exploring formats beyond gummies. THC beverages have been one of the fastest-growing categories we’ve seen for both Kind Oasis and the broader industry. Long-term, the brands that win will be the ones consumers trust for consistency, not novelty.
On the regulatory side, Kind Oasis is preparing for multiple outcomes rather than reacting to whichever one arrives. That means developing products across multiple cannabinoids and formats while simultaneously being at the forefront of shaping common sense policy in Wisconsin. That’s why we spearheaded the creation of the Wisconsin Coalition for Cannabis Reform. Thoughtful, evidence-based regulation that protects public health is good for consumers and for our state’s responsible operators.
Staying Curious in an Evolving Cannabis Industry
Stay curious and don’t confuse confidence with certainty. This industry moves too fast for anyone to have all the answers. The people who do well ask good questions, test their assumptions and learn faster and, I believe, more than everyone around them. And the beneficiary of that curiosity is the customer.
