Benjamin Matsuda, Vice President of Sales Benjamin Matsuda has spent his life around cultivation and his career seeing nearly every side of the cannabis industry. Now a Partner and Vice President of Sales at
Grow Pros Solutions, his journey has taken him from testing labs to commercial cultivation, from what he describes as working “up and down the hill” to managing a 200,000-squarefoot flowering facility by the age of 25. He later held Director of Cultivation roles, experiences that gave him a comprehensive view of what growers need and where the industry falls short.
His father was a cultivator, and although Matsuda lost him when he was five, the industry remained part of his family's identity. That background is important because Grow Pros Solutions was built around people who understand the industry they serve.
“Our whole team is designing products for growers, by growers,” Matsuda says. “We know the shortcomings and the frustrations that we have in the garden all the time. So, we're able to curate, create and design products for cultivation facilities that are actually practical.”
Manufacturing Was the Foundation
Grow Pros Solutions began with its original three partners, John, Jackie and Jack. John and Jackie studied electrical engineering and came from the commercial LED lighting world, where they manufactured overhead lighting systems and helped replace older fluorescent technologies.
John worked his way up to CEO before stepping down, selling his shares and beginning Grow Pros Solutions with Jackie and Jack.
Manufacturing was the company's first foundation. It controls its product design, raw material sourcing and dedicated manufacturing operations. Three of its five partners were born and raised in China, and Grow Pros Solutions takes pride in that connection and its manufacturing capabilities there. Jackie spends most of the year in China overseeing the manufacturing side of the business.
The company's next evolution came when it began bringing commercial cultivation experience into product development and sales.
Chuck joined as the next partner, taking on product development and helping build the sales team internally. Matsuda followed as the next partner, alongside sales directors and managers who came directly from commercial cultivation. The company continued adding people from across the cannabis industry, including cultivators, breeders, architects, builders, engineers and plant scientists.
Grow Pros Solutions is employee-owned, and its owners remain deeply involved in building the business. The company's identity has grown from bringing manufacturing knowledge and cultivation experience into the same room.
Built Around What Actually Happens in the Garden
Most cultivation lights are auto-on. If a data signal fails, the fixture can come on unexpectedly. Grow Pros Solutions lights are auto-off. They remain off until they receive a valid data signal.

Our whole team is designing products for growers, by growers.
For cultivators, that is not a minor feature. Unexpected illumination during a dark cycle can disrupt a plant's photoperiod and contribute to hermaphroditism, affecting crop quality and commercial value.
The same cultivation perspective shapes the company's work in spectrum control. Its lighting systems offer independent channel tuning from 395 to 730 nanometres, spanning UV through far-red.
Matsuda is involved in research being peer-reviewed through the University of Minnesota on five categories of spectral crop steering: UV, blue, white, deep red and far-red. Grow Pros Solutions is also conducting greenhouse lighting studies with the university involving leafy greens and large-scale agriculture, while its cannabis spectrum research has included collaboration with Texas A&M.
But the company does not look at lighting as an isolated variable.
Matsuda describes cultivation as a triangle, with VPD at the top, PPFD and spectrum on one side, and volumetric water content and nutrient composition on the other. “You can't change one of the points without changing the other,” he says.

That thinking has led Grow Pros Solutions beyond overhead lighting. The company manufactures stainless steel rolling benches with a built-in three-degree slope and has integrated airflow systems with its under-canopy lighting to help boost yields while improving consistency in bud sizing and colour.
The company has worked with facilities producing around two pounds per light and helped some exceed 3.5 pounds, with its best-performing farms reaching four pounds.
Building the Ecosystem
Alongside manufacturing its lights, racks and airflow systems, the company has built an in-house rebate capability, construction and installation services, and a media company to support client success outside the grow room.
Its construction team can support projects from the ground up, covering concrete, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, equipment and installation. The media side helps clients better present their products and strengthen their brands.
As Grow Pros Solutions expands internationally, the company is continuing to build around the idea that started it all: manufacturing products for an industry its people know firsthand and creating an ecosystem that can support clients from the ground up.
Choosing Led Indoor Farming Lights that Protect the Crop
Indoor cultivation exposes weak lighting decisions quickly. A fixture that looks efficient on a specification sheet can create uneven canopy response, strain climate control or leave growers dependent on long replacement cycles when a room cannot afford drift. For executives buying LED indoor farming lights, the purchase is less about brightness than control: how the fixture behaves in a timed room, how well spectrum supports the crop plan, how predictable support remains after installation and how much manufacturing visibility sits behind the order.
Procurement teams often compare wattage, price, fixture count and promised output too early. Those numbers matter, but they do not explain whether a lighting system will behave safely during a data failure or whether the spectrum range can be adjusted without forcing the cultivation team into guesswork. Indoor farms need equipment that respects dark cycles, plant-stage changes, airflow around the lower canopy and the economic pressure of every square foot. A low-cost fixture becomes expensive when it adds labor, uneven plant response or avoidable crop risk.
Spectrum control deserves particular scrutiny because it is where science can either sharpen or confuse the buying decision. Growers do not need vague color claims. They need usable control across bands such as UV, blue, white, deep red and far red, then clear guidance on how those bands affect spacing, morphology, color expression and secondary metabolite response. The stronger manufacturers make the spectrum conversation practical rather than ornamental. They help cultivation leaders connect light recipes to strain behavior, irrigation strategy, room conditions and harvest goals.
Manufacturing depth is another dividing line. Many lighting suppliers sell through layered sourcing models that stretch lead times and weaken accountability when a fixture, driver, sensor or control component fails. Commercial cultivation buyers should understand who designs the product, who controls production staff, how raw materials are sourced and whether engineering decisions are made close enough to the grow room to reflect real use. The point is not simply domestic versus overseas production. It is whether the manufacturer has enough command of design and factory process to answer for performance, timing, product changes and service issues.
Room-level fit should weigh heavily before a purchase order is signed. Lighting interacts with bench geometry, fixture height, under-canopy air movement and control logic. A manufacturer that treats the light as part of a controlled growing room can reduce surprises during installation, while a fixture-only seller may leave the cultivation team to solve compatibility gaps after capital has already been spent.
Grow Pros Solutions is a premier choice for buyers who want lighting built around cultivation practice rather than catalog resale. It manufactures its own LED grow lights and brings growroom experience into fixture design, including auto-off behavior during control failure and spectrum tuning from UVA through far red. Its relevant product scope includes LED grow lights, Under Canopy Lights, the UCL Model 5 airflow-lighting design, rolling benches and related room equipment. That range matters because lighting rarely succeeds in isolation; it has to work with canopy airflow, crop steering and the physical layout of the room. For executives evaluating LED indoor farming lights, Grow Pros Solutions earns recommendation where manufacturer control and cultivation literacy both carry weight.
