When practitioners began asking whether CBD could complement massage and other therapeutic treatments,
CBD Healthcare Company saw a gap its own experience had prepared it to address. Customers were not looking for CBD as a general wellness product. They needed something that could fit naturally into protocol-oriented treatments such as massage, sports therapy, cupping and stretching.
At the time, most CBD products were tinctures and oils. Practitioners needed clarity around dosage, consistency and whether one lot would perform like the next. For roughly 15 years, CBD Healthcare Company had worked across massage, hotel spa and therapeutic care, where products are used within defined treatment protocols.
Rather than simply adding CBD to a topical formula, the company worked backward from professional requirements. It studied hemp genetics, sourcing, dosing and extraction methods, then built its manufacturing process around lot-to-lot repeatability.
“We engineered a product to create an outcome that would support customers,” says John Walsh, co-founder and partner.
The process starts with Kentucky-grown hemp cultivated from clones rather than seed, helping maintain a consistent genetic profile. Supercritical CO2 extraction removes unwanted chlorophylls and waxes, while CBD concentration is considered alongside how much product a practitioner is likely to use. The oil complements deep-tissue massage, cupping and stretching, while a higher-concentration comfort stick supports targeted application.
Walsh recalls CBD costing about 12 cents per milligram when the company entered the market. At that price, delivering the concentration practitioners needed would have made routine professional use difficult to justify. CBD Healthcare Company therefore worked to bring the cost below one cent per milligram, allowing it to provide the required dosage at a price that made sense for customers.
Proof Beyond the Label
Product consistency still left one question: how could practitioners verify it independently? With limited standards across the CBD market, CBD Healthcare Company pursued NSF certification. The company says its product became the first CBD product certified for personal care and the first certified for sport.
Walsh says NSF “verifies that what’s on the label and what the claims are on the label are in the bottle.”

Our goal is to give practitioners the consistency and performance they need to use CBD with confidence.
Every NSF-marked lot is tested before release, while the certification process scrutinizes the supply chain for banned substances, impurities and ingredient quality. Walsh says initial testing can cost about $20,000, with later manufacturing runs or packaging changes requiring another $3,000 to $7,000.
A new federal law, Public Law 119-37, fundamentally changes the hemp industry by limiting finished hemp-derived products to just 0.4 mg of total THC per container, replacing the industry’s reliance on the traditional 0.3 percent THC standard for finished products. Walsh says distributors increasingly require THC-free or non-detectable products. CBD Healthcare Company says all its products, including its NSF-certified products, are now THC-free, giving distributors a portfolio already aligned with tighter THC requirements.
Training and education support professional adoption. The company provides guidance on how its products complement established protocols and participates in sports-related events where team members speak with practitioners. Some conferences also provide continuing-education credit.
From Professional Sports to Broader Use
Walsh says only CBD Healthcare Company’s NSF-certified products are used across professional sports, including MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA, golf, NASCAR and tennis, with adoption extending into NCAA programs and collegiate athletics.
Matthew Krause, partner at CBD Healthcare Company, has played an essential role in that expansion. Drawing on his background as a professional strength coach and athletic trainer, he helps bridge product innovation with the practical needs of trainers, therapists and athletes. His role extends beyond advocacy, helping shape how CBD-based topical products fit into structured massage, recovery and performance-support protocols for demanding training-room environments.
Adoption is now moving into recreational sports, MMA and bodybuilding. New partner Michael Mak is also introducing the products to the celebrity sports and entertainment market.
The direction follows the principle that brought CBD into the business: understand the protocol, determine what the customer needs and build the product and process around delivering it consistently. The approach makes CBD Healthcare Company Cannabis Business Insights’ Top Premium CBD Solution 2026.
Choosing Premium CBD for Professional Wellness Programs
Purchasing CBD for a spa or sports program is less about adding another topical product than controlling what enters a professional treatment setting. Formulations can carry similar front-label language while differing materially in cannabinoid concentration, ingredient sourcing, THC exposure and batch consistency. That variation creates a procurement problem when staff must apply the product repeatedly and customers expect consistency. A formula that cannot be compared across lots or verified beyond its own label leaves the buyer carrying more of the risk, especially when a wellness brand has its reputation attached to every application. Retail shelf logic transfers poorly to service settings, where repeated staff use makes formulation differences more visible.
Regulatory uncertainty sharpens that concern. The FDA continues to warn against unapproved therapeutic claims for CBD products and has not evaluated most consumer CBD products for effectiveness or proper dosage. It also flags unanswered questions around interactions and safety. For executives, the practical response is disciplined product review rather than reliance on broad wellness language. Documentation should make cannabinoid content and contaminant testing easy to verify, while product messaging should remain within the intended consumer-product use. Independent certification can add another layer of assurance because programs such as NSF evaluate label claims and test for specified contaminants. In sports settings, THC exposure and banned-substance screening deserve particular attention.
Consistency starts before the finished product reaches a lab. Hemp genetics, cultivation methods, extraction choices and manufacturing controls can affect the profile a producer must reproduce. Buyers should therefore look past a certificate attached to one batch and ask how the supplier controls repeatability from source material through finished formulation. Lot-level testing matters most when it is tied to a defined release process rather than used as occasional proof. Concentration also needs context. A lower-priced product may carry less CBD per ounce, making unit price a poor basis for comparison when professional programs depend on repeatable application amounts. Procurement teams should compare usable concentration against the actual treatment format, not the shelf price in isolation.
“ CBD Healthcare Company’s use of clonederived Kentucky hemp with supercritical CO2 extraction helps maintain a more controlled product profile across professional-use formulas. “
Professional fit is the other half of the decision. Massage therapists, athletic trainers, physical therapy practices and wellness operators need products that can be incorporated into established protocols without confusion around application or formulation. Education should explain intended use and product differences in plain terms when staff must answer customer questions. Training material should remain usable after the initial purchasing review. Packaging and supply economics also matter once usage expands. Documentation must remain accessible enough for internal review and customer-facing reassurance. Premium status is difficult to justify through branding alone. Controlled formulation and verifiable testing offer a stronger basis. Product format then determines whether that quality translates into practical professional use.
CBD Healthcare Company fits that buying logic through a focused professional-use range that includes its NSF Comfort Muscle and Joint Relief Stick and NSF Certified Balancing CBD Massage & Body Oil with Lemongrass. Its use of clone-derived Kentucky hemp with supercritical CO2 extraction helps maintain a more controlled product profile across professional-use formulas. Its approach also includes lot testing and THC-controlled options intended for sports environments. The company provides usage guidance for massage and sports protocols, giving buyers a clearer link between formulation and application. For organizations prioritizing repeatability and documented product control, CBD Healthcare Company is a practical supplier to shortlist.
