Cannabis Business Insights: Selection Methodology

Program Objective

The “Top Cannabis Solutions & Service Providers” and related recognitions by Cannabis Business Insights identify organizations across the cannabis ecosystem demonstrating leadership in operational excellence, regulatory alignment and market responsiveness. The program covers solution providers and industry partners supporting cultivation, processing and product manufacturing, testing, compliance, distribution, retail, cannabis technology, financial and legal services, and ancillary infrastructure, enabling efficiency, scalability and compliance across the evolving legal cannabis market. By highlighting organizations driving operational efficiency and regulatory excellence, we showcase the partners essential to the growth and maturity of the legal cannabis industry.

The Selection Framework

Our research team, in collaboration with the Cannabis Business Insights Editorial Board, an external panel of industry peers, analysts and subscriber-driven nominations, employs a Cannabis Market Value Assessment Model to identify and recognize companies delivering exceptional value to the cannabis industry and associated sectors. Subscriber input plays an important role in the process, highlighting companies that professionals across the industry would recommend to their peers, choose for their own organizations or regard as best-in-class within their domain.

Nominees are scored on a scale of 1–100 across the following four criteria:

Operational Value for Cannabis Businesses (30%)
Assessment focuses on how effectively a provider improves day-to-day performance across cultivation, processing, distribution, retail or supporting business functions within the legal cannabis market.

Compliance and Market Readiness (25%)
The editorial board examines how well a company supports operators in meeting regulatory requirements, adapting to market shifts and maintaining business continuity in a tightly governed environment.

Commercial Impact and Scalability (25%)
Scoring considers measurable gains in efficiency, margin protection, revenue support, workflow clarity or expansion readiness across cannabis operations and adjacent business activities.

Industry Trust and Partner Credibility (20%)
Strong candidates demonstrate consistent client confidence through reputation, subscriber nominations, referrals, repeat engagements and evidence of dependable partnership across the cannabis ecosystem.

The "Bona Fide" Editorial Process

• Stage 2: Editorial & Technical Review: Shortlisted organizations are assessed using publicly available information, industry context and, where applicable, additional non-proprietary inputs shared voluntarily.

• Stage 3: Final Adjudication: Final selections are made by the Editorial Advisory Board, comprising industry peers and analysts, following a comprehensive review of each organization’s capabilities, market relevance and overall impact.
